Where’s Your Favorite Pizza Joint in Carlsbad?
I was looking at the latest issue of the Clipper Magazine that comes in the mail to our house trying to find a place to have lunch. Well, I just got back from lunch at Big Red Pizza, located in the Bank of America shopping center at the southeast corner of El Camino Real and La Costa Ave. A slice of pepperoni pizza, a soft drink, and a Caesar salad for 6 bucks. The pizza, by the slice, came out of the oven piping hot, with a thin New York style crust, with plenty of pepperoni.
The salad was cold, as it should be, with crisp fresh well-washed lettuce, and a creamy Caesar dressing served on the side. The obligatory croutons and shredded parmesan complimented the salad.
I brought home the menu, which you can find at www.bigredpizza.com , and the BW (Beautiful Wife) noted the other 6 salads that are available. In addition to great pizza, and the salads, Big Red, also serves Pasta, Ravioli, Subs, and beer and wine. There’s a limited menu of desserts, but you should be full by the time you finish lunch or dinner.
I’m also partial to the name of the restaurant because I went to Cornell, as an undergraduate, and we’re known as the Big Red! So where’s your favorite pizza in Carlsbad. Add it to the comments below by click on the link that says “No Comments” below.

I like Pizza Port and I think I’ll have to check out Big Red Pizza too…
But, what about GREEN PIZZA?
Well, I have recently found two interesting pizzerias featuring VEGAN and GLUTEN-FREE pizza. “ZPizza” with locations in Carmel Mountain, Scripps Ranch, La Jolla, Linda Vista and Chula Vista and “Pizza Fusion” located in Hillcrest and Temecula with fresh, organic, earth friendly ingredients!

If you go to Pizza Port you HAVE to go one block further south to a little “Mom and Pop” owned placed called NYP (New York Pizzeria). Tell Maria and Larry I sent you. Their food is out of this world. If you’re in Oceanside, near the 78 and Jefferson, by Mimi’s Cafe, Brooklyn Boyz is absolutely AMAZING! It’s right next to the Chevron station in that little shopping area.
